The bi-Cube® SSO Logon Manager

The bi-Cube® SSO Logon Manager

The Logon Manager is an advancement of the bi-Cube® SSO software, which allows to easily include future authentication methods. Thus not only the strong authentication is optimized, the connection of new methods enhances the user comfort.

bi-Cube® SSO is a central Access Management. The software takes over the user logon to the application. This way no little post-it papers are sticking on each computer monitor, which represent an enormous security leek. Since the user does not need to memorize his/her password anymore, the number of password reset requests at the User Help Desk is drastically reduced.

Future ability of the Logon Manager
The entire authentication functionality has been transferred to the bi-Cube® Software Logon Manager. It offers several future authentication methods for the user. The advanced development also includes the compatibility with Windows Vista as well as the authentication optimization for terminal applications. bi-Cube®

The functionality of the Logon Manager
The Logon Manger is a Windows service which identifies or verifies user to access different applications of the computer. For a strong authentication, several procedures can be configured which can also be connected with each other. For example, the user can identify himself via SmartCard and Fingerprint or with a SmartCard and password. It is possible to connect each authentication procedure with the “and“-/”or“- combination.

The configured procedure for a secure authentication can be used for the logon to the operating system via GINA (Graphical Identification and Authentication) as well as for each application. For the external application also an interface is available which enables the integration of the Logon Manager.

Authentication Optimization for Terminal programs
With its functionality the Logon Manager replaces the Bio-ID transfer service which was only able to transfer the fingerprint data. The Logon Manager however can transmit any procedure since the authentication is executed completely at the ThinClient.

Implementation Scenario
A typical implementation scenario for the Logon Manager is the use of several user at only one Computer workstation. Here the user can comfortably identify himself e.g. via a SmartCard. The Logon Manager automatically identifies the user profile and the SSO with its applications is loaded. Now the user can easily launch his programs without entering a user name or password.

If the user removes his SmartCard from the computer then automatically he will be signed off.

Current authentication methods
At present, four (4) authentication procedures are supported by the bi-Cube® Logon Manager
SmartCard SmartCard
Fingerprint Fingerprint
bi-Cube bi-Cube® SecuToken
Windows Password Windows Password

These can optionally be increased by plug ins. Currently iSM is working on an additional authentication method: Face recognition.
